Rogers Communications

Rogers Communications started the 2010 school year with new Unlimited Student Plans and wanted to get students talking to create some buzz.  The idea was to engage students through social media and get them participate in weekly photo-challenges.  Students submitted their photos through facebook, twitter or through the snap, share and win microsite, and competed for votes.  The ten winners of each weekly challenge bare-knuckled it out to win amazing prizes ranging from $1000 bucks cash and netbooks to rocket sticks and Android devices .  The 8 cash winners of each week were automatically entered into the grand prize round for a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to NYC, for them and a friend, to see a private concert with Katy Perry.  Pretty rad if you like money, gadgets and free trips.

With broad shoulders and a strong back, we set out to take on all the heavy lifting from strategy, contest mechanics, prizing, media buy and fulfillment.  We wanted to craft a fun experience for students and make it easy to amplify the contest reach through facebook and twitter, while still increasing awareness about the new Unlimited Student plans.

The results far surpassed all expectations.  Constrained to just the ontario region, Snap Share and Win received over 375,000 pageviews, 78,000 unique visits, 22,142 votes and 2,035 photos submitted in just 8 weeks of contest play.  The contest helped Rogers reach out to a younger demographic and gave them a platform, through facebook and twitter, to have meaningful dialogue with students about communications related issues that were important to them.  We were just glad to help.
