Since a service like dry cleaning and custom clothing care is about utility, our website design for Parkers, a century-old company that prides itself on meeting the lifestyle needs of a broad consumer base, delivers an equally resourceful user interface. Visitors to the homepage of the Parkers' site can access promotional offers and coupons, information on pickup and delivery, service incentive promotions, newsletter registration, and blog posts. Taking cues from their time-honoured logo, which itself bespeaks the values of tradition, we developed a look and feel for the site that recalls a sense of Victorian craftsmanship. Slab serif fonts, subtle use of fabric patterns, and an earthy colour palette evoke an era of personal quality service that we often hear about from our grandparents. But the medium of web, and the advent of newsletter campaigns and Facebook promotions takes Parkers' look and feel well into the twenty-first century. Our work with Parkers is ongoing, since we coordinate monthly email newsletters replete with a series of new printable coupons that often follow the seasons, and Facebook promotions that drive traffic to Parkers' Facebook page.
